Boat Club

When the weekend is approaching and the weather report is stellar, I become anxious about spending enough quality time outdoors. Well, I can sleep easier now knowing that the North Brooklyn Boat Club exists.
It's run by a group of fun-loving, earth-loving, water-loving volunteers. They run a variety of public boating events during the summer months. Today, I took a walk to to the tip of Greenpoint with Christina and Jay to check out the summer kickoff celebration, have some beignets, and hop in a canoe. Our guide led us out into the East River towards the Williamsburg Bridge. We had great views of Manhattan and got to see some hidden away areas of the Brooklyn and LIC coastlines. What a privilege to spend some time on the water, in a city that historically prohibited access to the public. Makes me want to read this book and buy a kayak. Are you excited about the recent waterfront revitalization? What would you like to see on the coast in the years to come?

  1. It was such a fun day! I'm excited to go on another canoe ride in the evening to see the sunset.
